Humidity is a complex business in grow rooms.

• Dry air = water evaporates = plants sweating to cool = hungrier plants = sucking up too much nutes = burned leaves
• High humidity = plants can't transpire = don't drink as much = don't draw enough nutes = unoptimised plant growth

To complicate things more; the temperature of the air has a knock-on effect on the volume of humidity the air can hold!

Behold - VPD! VPD is a measurement of both and correlates to finding the sweet spot in the form of a VPD value. The Intelligent Humidity Controller automates and works out when to power on your humidifier. It does this by calculating the vapour pressure deficit on the leaves of your plants and maintains the optimum humidity depending on where the plant is in the growth cycle and your grow room temperature. In short, it creates a more optimised environment for your plants and increases your yields.

The GAS Intelligent Humidity controller comes with a temperature, humidity and light probe as well as day and night humidity functions, it gives you the option to control your humidifier in 4 different ways. It also has a warning display feature to let you know if your humidifier has run out of water.

INTELLIGENT HUMIDITY CONTROLLER - 4 CONTROL TYPES

Four ways to use the controller to regulate humidity. To change a controlled setting, enter the main menu on the device, scroll down to control type, and select. In order to use control types 3 and 4, you will need to take a temperature reading from your foliage and make a note of the difference between the foliage temp and air temp. In a typical climate-controlled grow environment, the leaves in direct light should be 1-3°C cooler than the surrounding air. The easiest way to take a temperature reading from your foliage is with a laser thermometer

1. RELATIVE HUMIDITY 24 HOURS

Will maintain the set relative humidity 24 hours a day.

2. RELATIVE HUMIDITY DAY / RELATIVE HUMIDITY NIGHT

It will allow you to set relative humidity for the day (lights on) and a different humidity setting for the night (lights off).

3. VPD 24 HOURS

This is an intelligent function that takes into account the air temperature, relative humidity and plant temperature to maintain the Vapour Pressure Deficit according to the plant's growth stage. Set the controller at your plant's growth stage and it will calculate and maintain the ideal relative humidity.

4. VPD DAY / RELATIVE HUMIDITY NIGHT

Tell the controller your plants leaf temp, then this control type does the rest. It's is an intelligent function that takes into account the air temperature, relative humidity and plant temperature to maintain the Vapour Pressure Deficit according to the plant's growth stage. Set the controller at your plant's growth stage and it will calculate and maintain the ideal relative humidity. You can also set a static nighttime relative humidity.
